Cavalier Geneve Inner Circle Toro

The band reads "Inner Circle" and the cigar earns it. From the first draw, there's a sweetness that sits right at the front, honeyed and clean, followed almost immediately by toasted nuts, the kind you'd pull from a warm oven. A French toast note comes through in the middle third, rich with vanilla and a faint citrus brightness underneath that keeps everything from feeling heavy. That citrus lift is what makes this work so well on a hot Tokyo afternoon. It doesn't drag. The construction is confident all the way through. The draw is effortless, the burn line behaves, and the smoke is generous and creamy. The finish is long, leaving honey and a ghost of popcorn sweetness on the palate well after the smoke is gone. This is a cigar that gives you a lot and asks nothing complicated in return. It holds its own next to anything in a Davidoff humidor, and it does it with a generosity of flavour that some of those classics can't always match.

バンドには「インナーサークル」とある。その名に恥じない一本だ。最初のドローから、蜂蜜のような甘さがすっと前に出てくる。続いてすぐに、温かいオーブンから取り出したばかりのようなローストナッツのニュアンスが現れる。中盤にはフレンチトーストを思わせる風味が広がり、バニラの豊かさとほのかな柑橘の明るさが重さを取り除いてくれる。この柑橘のリフトが、暑い東京の午後にこの葉巻がこれほど心地よい理由だ。重たくならない。 構造も終始安定している。ドローは軽く、燃焼ラインは乱れず、煙は豊かでクリーミー。フィニッシュは長く、煙が消えたあとも蜂蜜とポップコーンの淡い甘さが口の中に残る。複雑なことを何も要求せず、たくさんのものを与えてくれる葉巻だ。ダビドフのヒュミドールに並べても引けを取らない。それどころか、フレーバーの豊かさという点では、あちらの名品を上回る日もある。 ロブストサイズでありながら最後まで風味の鮮度が落ちない。これはこのサイズでは珍しいことだ。最終三分の一ではエスプレッソがダークローストのコーヒーに近い深みへと変わり、シナモンも再び引き締まった印象を見せる。苦みの突き上げもなく、失速もない。フィニッシュは蜂蜜とウォルナットが喉の奥に温かく残る。湾を見渡しながら吸ったが、ウイスキーとの相性は言うまでもない。グラスのキャラメルが、煙の中に起きていることをそのまま映していた。
