The Casa Nicaragua El Journalero is a journey of flavors that starts with the first puff, releasing a symphony of sweet wood and charred oak. There’s a hint of sweetness that’s hard to pinpoint, but it’s there, subtly teasing the palate.
Faint notes of vanilla make an appearance, accompanied by a touch of pepper that adds a bit of spice to the experience. The first 2cm reveals a new flavor - dry cookie, although the cigar can be a bit harsh at this stage. As the cigar opens up, it reveals a delightful blend of chocolate, nuts, and licorice. There’s also a fresh element, reminiscent of grass but stronger, almost like rosemary. The flavors of nuts and bread are also present, adding to the complexity of the cigar.
Reaching the midpoint of the cigar, you’ll notice a shift in flavors. The harshness gives way to a softer, sweeter profile. Notes of cookie dough, sweet grass, and nuts come to the forefront, complemented by a hint of sweet milk.
The final third is arguably the best part. The harshness completely disappears, replaced by a plethora of sweet elements. The flavors of milk and cornflakes dominate, creating a delightful end to the journey.
