This is one of our favourites at Raging Ashes, the Viso Jalapa from Cavalier, here in the short Tempura format. The Jalapa Valley in Nicaragua is known for bold tobacco, and its climate grows exceptionally dark, robust leaves. Sébastien's blend tames that Nicaraguan spice and delivers a balance of richness and refined sweetness, a new school kind of Maduro.
On the palate, dark chocolate and graham cracker lead, followed by sourdough bread, leather, cedar, earth, cloves, and a very light citrus. The retrohale brings vanilla sweetness and black pepper, then a huge buttery note and popcorn. This cigar is gorgeous. Try it and tell me what you taste.
