Illusione Ultra OP No. 3
Illusione Ultra OP No. 3
· Wrapper: Nicaragua Corojo
· Binder: Nicaragua
· Filler: Nicaragua Ligero (Esteli and Jalapa)
· Size: Short Robusto, 108mm
Ultra is the strong end of the Illusione range, and it exists because of a happy accident. In 2006 a batch of the ~mk~ came out stronger than intended. Rather than throw the cigars away Giolito sold them as MKULTRA, and the reaction was strong enough that Ultra became a line of its own. Every one of them is pressed overnight after rolling, which is why it sits square in the hand.
Short and serious. Toast and warm grains open it, then walnut builds with a surprising turn of strawberry alongside. Sweetness arrives in the form of caramel and red licorice, and the spice answers with black pepper. The whole thing is ligero heavy from Esteli and Jalapa, so it is full from start to finish across forty minutes. This is not a beginner's cigar and it does not pretend to be. Shipped nationwide across Japan from RACC.
