Made to mark ten years of Illusione, and then named halfwheel's number one cigar of 2016. Most anniversary cigars vanish after the party. Giolito put this one into regular production instead, which is the more generous decision and the reason you can still buy it. A seco dominant blend under a AAA grade cafe claro corojo wrapper.

The opening is unmistakable and slightly absurd: heavily buttered popcorn, thick enough to crowd out everything else, with raspberry flickering behind it. The retrohale turns nutty and reads like browned butter. Through the middle a butter biscuit sweetness takes over, and that note takes me straight back to the sables sold in France in one kilo bags, the ones with little messages stamped into each biscuit. Bonjour. Je t'aime. Toi papa. The last third brings raspberry green tea and a light dusting of paprika. An hour, medium to full, and worth every yen. Shipped nationwide across Japan from RACC.
