MAD stands for Maduro. Caldwell has said the rest of the name is left to your imagination. Released in 2018 as the third chapter of Long Live the King, this is not the original blend with a dark wrapper thrown on top. It is a different cigar from the ground up: Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Sumatra binder, and a filler that mixes Dominican Corojo 98 and Habano with Pennsylvania double ligero. Blue band, box of ten, and Cigar Coop placed it at number 28 of the year in 2019. Rolled at Tabacalera William Ventura in Santiago.

The cold draw is pure milk chocolate, the kind from a wrapper you tore open as a kid. Lit, there is a short flash of heat and then it drops into cocoa, a cool mineral edge and a dark berry sweetness that grows through the second third, with dried fruit on the finish. Medium strength, nothing heavy about it, and the corona keeps the whole thing tight and focused for the full forty five minutes. Shipped nationwide across Japan from RACC.
